Terry Armstrong Facing Criminal Charges for Forgery

Terry Armstrong (CRD #: 4762752) a previously registered broker with J.W. Cole Financial, has new criminal charges on their BrokerCheck record, accessed on September 5, 2023. Details of these charges are provided below. 

Criminal Allegations 

On June 15, 2023, the following criminal charges appeared on Terry Armstrong’s BrokerCheck record: 

  • Felony/ False signature insurance application document
  • Felony use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony
  • Felony/ Insurance fraud of $20,000 or more, less than $10,0000 

Terry Armstrong has pled not guilty to the charges. 

FINRA Rule 4530 

FINRA Rule 4530 requires that brokerage firms report if any of their registered brokers are the subject of a written customer complaint involving allegations of theft or misappropriation of funds or securities or of forgery. They must also report if a broker is indicted, convicted of, or pleads guilty to, or pleads no contest to any felony, or any misdemeanor that involves forgery. 

FINRA Rule 2010

FINRA Rule 2010 holds brokers to high standards of commercial honor and just and equitable principles of trade. Forgery is a violation of this rule. 

Previous Investor Dispute

There is a customer dispute from 2008 that was closed with no action alleging Terry Armstrong forged a signature on a $10,000 guaranteed insurability benefit.
