Shomir Mukherjee Faced an Allegation of an Unsuitable Investment Recommendation

Shomir Mukherjee (CRD #: 4121898), a broker registered with Western International Securities, was involved in an investor dispute, according to his BrokerCheck record, accessed on July 16, 2021. This is not his first investor dispute.

On June 22, 2021, an investor alleged that Mukherjee recommended an unsuitable investment. The dispute was denied by the firm. Important note: Firms can deny disputes before FINRA arbitration. “Denials” simply mean that the firm denies that their representative engaged in misconduct. They do not indicate that FINRA has reviewed the dispute. Investors can still recover their losses following a denial.

This is not the only denied dispute on Mukherjee’s record. On September 19, 2008, an investor alleged that Shomir Mukherjee misrepresented an investment, but the firm denied the dispute before FINRA arbitration.

CitiGroup Resignation

On February 13, 2015, Shomir Mukherjee voluntarily resigned from his position at CitiGroup Global Markets. According to the firm’s allegations, Mukherjee resigned after the firm asked about two annuity withdrawal checks made out to a third-party company that bore the address of Mukherjee’s office. CitiGroup believes the registered agent for the third-party company is a relative of Mukherjee.
