Kate Lam Faces 1-Year FINRA Suspension

Kate Lam (CRD #: 7537388), a broker formerly registered with TD Securities (USA), has been suspended by FINRA, according to her BrokerCheck record, accessed on February 8, 2025. Keep reading to learn more about her alleged conduct as a broker.

FINRA Suspension

On January 23, 2025, Kate Lam consented to the entry of findings that she allegedly improperly used funds from her firm, TD Securities (USA), by charging business expenses that did not comply with the firm’s travel and expense policy.

A Letter of Acceptance, Waiver & Consent (AWC) alleged that Kate Lam improperly charged expenses of $5,897.42 to the firm from July 2022 through March 2023.

The firm’s policy allegedly allowed employees to use its car service account for transportation home when working past 8 PM, and to charge the firm for dinners purchased when working after 8 PM or breakfast and lunch when working on weekends.

Kate Lam allegedly charged 157 trips to the firm’s car service account for trips taken before 8 PM, including regular commutes to and from the office and other trips, and also charged 102 meals not covered by this policy.

The AWC concluded that these allegations constitute a violation of FINRA Rule 2010.

Sanctions

Kate Lam consented to the following sanctions:

  • 12-month suspension from associating with FINRA members
  • $10,000 fine

Termination from TD Securities (USA)

On May 5, 2023, Kate Lam was fired from TD Securities after an internal investigation allegedly found that she had violated the firm’s Travel and Expense Policy.
