Jennifer Basey Subject of Preferred Stock Dispute

Jennifer Basey (CRD #: 4730054), a broker registered with Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, is the subject of an investor dispute. This is according to her BrokerCheck record, accessed on October 17, 2023. Keep reading if you have questions about her alleged conduct – this is not the first disclosure on her record. 

On September 5, 2023, an investor alleged that Jennifer Basey assured them that their investments were safe and selected preferred stocks without the customer’s consent. These investments allegedly led to losses. The investor sought $75,000 but the dispute was denied. investors should know, however, that firms can deny disputes without any external review. Following a denial, investors may still be able to recover their funds via FINRA arbitration.

Regulatory Actions 

There are also two regulatory actions on Jennifer Basey’s record. 

On March 24, 2023, Jennifer Basey entered into an Acceptance, Waiver, and Consent agreement (AWC), in which she consented to the findings that she falsified a customer’s signature and falsified additional customer initials on paperwork used to facilitate transfers of funds. 

As part of the terms of the AWC, Jennifer Basey consented to a $5,000 fine and a two-month suspension. You can read a copy of the AWC here

On February 12, 2020, the State of Michigan stated that it intended to deny, condition, or limit Jennifer Basey’s registration application following allegations that she had engaged in dishonest or unethical behavior.
