Erin Chun Involved in Investor Dispute Alleging Misrepresentation

Erin Chun (CRD #: 4796281), a broker registered with MML Investors Services, is involved in an investor dispute, according to her BrokerCheck record, accessed on April 20, 2022.

According to the allegations filed on January 21, 2022, Erin Chun misrepresented the surrender charges and tax consequences associated with her client’s 2014 purchase of a variable annuity. Variable annuities come with a variety of fees, and the contracts are often too complex for investors (and brokers) to understand. The case is still pending.

FINRA Rule 2020 and 2010

FINRA Rule 2020 prohibits brokerage firms and stockbrokers from making material misrepresentations. Brokers are not allowed to make false or misleading statements about a financial product in order to convince a customer to invest. This unethical conduct also violates FINRA Rule 2010, which states that brokers must uphold high standards of commercial honor.
