Eric Dupre Subject of a FINRA Bar

Eric Dupre (CRD #: 2174456) has been barred by FINRA following allegations of misappropriation. This allegation appears on his BrokerCheck record, accessed on September 8, 2025. Keep reading for more information.
Barred by FINRA
On July 17, 2025, FINRA barred Eric Dupre. This followed allegations that he borrowed at least $2.2 million from two customers without providing notice to or obtaining written approval from his member firm. One of the customers was 77 years old. He allegedly borrowed on margin in order to lend to Eric Dupre and created substantial margin debt. Eric Dupre has allegedly not repaid any portion of the funds loaned to him by his customer.

Investor Dispute
On May 23, 2024, investors alleged that Eric Dupre recommended they invest in a cryptocurrency opportunity. He allegedly did not invest the funds but instead misappropriated $2.6 million.
Termination by Ameriprise Financial Services
On December 26, 2023, Ameriprise Financial Services fired Eric Dupre following allegations that he violated firm policy related to borrowing from clients.
FINRA Rule 3240
Brokers are only allowed to borrow money from clients under limited circumstances. FINRA Rule 3240 states that brokers may borrow from or lend to clients if those clients are immediate family members.
High Standards of Commercial Honor
FINRA Rule 2010 holds brokers to high standards of commercial honor and just and equitable principles of trade. Violations of FINRA 3240 also violate FINRA Rule 2010.
