Craig Gould is the Subject of a $300,000 Dispute

Craig Gould (CRD #: 2367293), a broker registered with World Equity Group, is the subject of a new investor dispute. This dispute appears on his BrokerCheck record, accessed on December 4, 2023. Investors should know that this dispute follows two regulatory actions.

On September 26, 2023, investors alleged that Craig Gould engaged in negligence and fraud. They further alleged negligent misrepresentation regarding the purchase of First Capital Real Estate Trust REIT, a.k.a. United Realty Trust. The investor is seeking $300,000.

Misrepresentation

FINRA Rule 2020 forbids the use of deceptive, manipulative, and otherwise fraudulent methods to influence the purchase and sale of securities. The misrepresentation or omission of material facts violates this rule.

Regulatory Action

On January 23, 2020, Craig Gould consented to the findings that he failed to establish and maintain a supervisory system reasonably designed to achieve compliance with FINRA rules. At the time, he served as president of the advisory firm Cabot Lodge. His firm’s written supervisory policy required a review of the organization and offering expenses and underwriters’ compensation of the initial public offering of a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) in which the firm participated.

The findings stated that the underwriting compensation was $7,652,046, which allegedly exceeded the 10% limit by $2,827,536.

According to the Acceptance, Waiver, and Consent agreement (AWC), the firm never reimbursed the REIT for excess amounts.

As part of the terms of the AWC, Craig Gould consented to a fine of $20,000.
