Regulatory Action

On February 1, 2024. Brian Shevland entered into an Acceptance, Waiver, and Consent agreement (AWC) following allegations that he made negligent misrepresentations about the performance of two private equity funds. The AWC alleges that Brian Shevland caused the Funds to invest more than $20 million in a separate private equity fund (the Master Fund) that was managed by one of his former employees. The Funds allegedly created documents that contained materially inaccurate performance results. The documents relied on information that Brian Shevland received from the Master Fund.

Brian Shevland allegedly failed to act with due care after learning about material discrepancies in financial results reported by the Master Fund. The manager of the Master Fund was reportedly arrested and charged with securities fraud.

As part of the terms of the AWC, Brian Shevland consented to a one-year suspension and a $10,000 fine. You can read a copy of the AWC here
