Tyler Camp Facing a $5 Million Investor Dispute

Tyler Camp (CRD #: 6002124), a broker registered with MML Investors Services, is the subject of a multi-million dollar investor dispute. This disclosure appears on his BrokerCheck record, accessed on October 11, 2023. Keep reading if you have questions about his alleged conduct as a broker.

On September 13, 2023, investors alleged that Tyler Camp opened fee-based accounts and charged a financial planning fee. The investors alleged he never justified the cost. One investor complained she lost significant value in her fee-based account.

The investors are seeking $5,000,000.

There is another dispute from earlier in the same month. On September 8, 2023, an investor alleged that Tyler Camp misrepresented a Variable Annuity. The investor alleges he would not have agreed to the investment if Tyler Camp had made adequate disclosures.

The investor is seeking $99,000.

What is a Variable Annuity?

Variable annuities are complex investments. They are insurance products that come with an investment component. The associated fees, surrender charges, and potential tax liability can negate any supposed benefits they offer. Furthermore, the risk associated with this type of illiquid investment makes them unsuitable for many investors.

Misrepresentation

FINRA Rule 2020 forbids the use of deceptive, manipulative, and otherwise fraudulent methods to influence the purchase and sale of securities. The misrepresentation or omission of material facts violates this rule.
