Investor Dispute
On July 20, 2022, an investor alleged that Randy Saunders and other brokers misrepresented an annuity product the client purchased on May 3, 2022. The client alleged that the annuity was represented as being a short-term investment that would grant him full access to his principal after one year and that he would earn at least 5%. The client sought $60,000 in damages but was denied by the firm.
Investors should be aware, however, that firms don’t need to permit an outside review before denying disputes. Investors may be able to recover their funds after a denial through FINRA arbitration.
FINRA Rule 2020
FINRA Rule 2020 prohibits the use of manipulative, deceptive, and otherwise unethical tactics to influence investors’ decisions. This includes the misrepresentation or omission of information, such as an investment’s potential returns, requirements, or limitations.
