Paul Magnani Involved in a Dispute Regarding a Certificate of Deposit

Paul Magnani (CRD #: 7008954), a broker registered with Edward Jones, is facing an investor dispute alleging that he misrepresented a Certificate of Deposit. This is according to his BrokerCheck record, accessed on July 19, 2023. Keep reading if you have questions about his conduct as a broker. 

On May 26, 2023, an investor alleged that Paul Magnani did not explain the features of a Certificate Deposit, namely that the amount the investor could withdraw would be subject to current market value. 

FINRA Rule 2020 

FINRA Rule 2020 prohibits the use of manipulation, deception, and other fraudulent means to influence investors’ decisions. This includes the misrepresentation or omission of information, such as an investment’s potential returns, risks, or limitations.

Certificates of Deposit 

Brokered CDs are different from CDs issued by a bank. Investors should know that brokered CDs are securities and feature more risk than bank CDs. For instance, they may come with penalty fees for early withdrawal and the issuer may redeem CDs if the interest rates drop.
