Frank Young Subject of an Investor Dispute
Frank Young (CRD #: 4417847), a broker registered with Raymond James Financial Services, is the subject of an investor dispute. This is according to his BrokerCheck record, accessed on February 13, 2024. Keep reading if you have questions regarding his conduct.
On October 11, 2023, an investor alleged that they told their representative they wanted an investment with no risk. Instead, Frank Young allegedly placed them in an unsuitable investment. The investor further alleged that he misrepresented a municipal bond, stating that they would not lose money. Municipal bonds are riskier than U.S. treasury bonds since they depend on the creditworthiness of a city or state.
The investor sought $135,000 but the dispute was denied. Investors should know, however, that they can still recover funds following a denial by their firm.
What is an Unsuitable Investment?
FINRA Rule 2111 requires brokers to evaluate whether an investment strategy fits their investor’s financial goals. Brokers must examine the investor’s profile, which contains the following investor characteristics:
- Age
- Risk tolerance
- Time horizon (i.e., how long the investor plans to hold the investment)
- Investing experience
- Tax status
- Financial goals
Investors who rely on brokers for recommendations may be able to recover losses from unsuitable investment recommendations by pursuing FINRA arbitration.
